Let this wordpress plugin do all the work for you, it’s automated and very useful. It creates a proper sitemap of your wordpress blog. This plugin supports Ask.com, Google, YAHOO and MSN Search. What is a Google Sitemap? Basically, a Google Sitemap is a file which contains URLs and some additional information for all public pages or documents of your website. Google can read this file and add the defined pages to their index.
Why should we use this plugin? Well, there’s no evidence that they increase your pagerank, although it can help Google to index and crawl your page better which may result in a more complete index of your page.

How to install the sitemap wordpress plugin
First extract the file, and upload it in your wp-content/plugins folder. Then go to Plugins in your wordpress panel and activate it. Having trouble creating the sitemaps? I’ve had installation problems too. However, I fixed this problem by creating a sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz file with notepad. Just open it >> save as >> Select save as filetype: “All files” >> and set name to sitemap.xml(.gz). After that, set the CHMOD to 777, which means set them all to ‘write’.
